For Ed Skelly, helping people make the most of the assets they’ve accumulated is rewarding work. Ed enjoys guiding his clients as they implement the financial strategies that help them work towards their goals. As president of Sterling Financial Partners, Ed takes a comprehensive approach to wealth management. He sees his role as helping people make smart decisions about their investments, insurance and retirement plans—providing them with a greater financial independence.  

With almost two decades of experience in the financial services industry, Ed has been providing financial planning services to residents of the Northern Virginia area since 1990. Since 1996 Ed has expanded his practice across the country with clients in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, California, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and the District of Columbia.  Many of his clients have experienced major life changes including retirement, sale of a business, inheritance, divorce or the loss of a spouse or loved one.

Ed holds the Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®), Chartered Financial Consultant® designation (ChFC®), and the Registered Financial Consultant designation (RFC®).  He is a member of Society of Financial Service Professionals, Washington, DC Chapter, a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), a member of Suburban Maryland Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (SMAIFA), and the Leaders Club of Washington where he served as President in 1998.  Ed is also a member of the Million Dollar Round Table and has served as chair of their Technology Committee in 2003.  Additionally, Ed graduated from the Culinary Institute with an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts in 1984, and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality Management from the Florida International University in 1986.

Born in Kingston, NY and raised in Catskill, NY, Ed has been a resident of Ashburn, Virginia since 1991.When he’s not in the office, Ed enjoys spending time with his wife, Amy and their three beautiful children, Ryan, Lauren and Courtney.
